Ulrich Lang - Apsu
The name APSU, used in mythology for “fresh water,” hints to the watery notes found in its composition. The fragrance was developed with the concept of uniting minimalism with freshness. APSU is more of a scent than a heavy, complex fragrance — a nod to a simpler lifestyle not easily found in today’s complex world.

- AMAdam M.08/06/2024Reviews 2Products received 0An interesting conceptual scent that delivers exactly what promised.Apsu unexpectedly fulfills one of the perfume wishes I have dreamed of: to wear something green and watery that could not be associated with a typically masculine fragrance, yet have nothing feminine about it either. I've always been attracted to niche, "artsy" and unobvious scents, finding the idea of being a fragrance snob with no money to afford that costly hobby pretty funny. Among the many, mostly critical, customers' reviews of Apsu, I found one in which a disappointed buyer compared the scent to "a wilted cucumber". Another customer complained they had not "intended to smell like a maintenance worker after the whole day of mowing the grass along a highway". Having read those, I decided that it MUST BE my next Scentbird order! And I am very happy I did. The aroma of freshly cut grass intertwines with a very cool cucumber note which is, I would say, somehow indifferent (it may actually be wilted, haha) - not a component in your salad that makes your mouth water, but juicy and fresh nevertheless. The whole composition is elegantly simple; it brings to mind all things green and/or pale that burst with water, like freshly cut stems of tulips in the crisp spring morning air etc. etc. And I love that there is nothing remotely sweet about it, which elevates its freshness and gives it that touch of indifference and maybe even a tiny bit of urban alienation, as opposed to fragrances that are designed to be crowd pleasers and meant to evoke stronger attraction to the wearer. Let me also add that to me it's not exactly a "unisex" scent; it seems like "genderless" would be a better word to describe it. One more thing: unlike similar products, it lasts quite a long time. I can still smell it faintly after the whole day. I did not give Apsu the full 5 stars because I reserve such rating to perfumes I consider true and absolute masterpieces. But I think it deserves a strong 4 star rating for its originality. I would also like to thank Scentbird for the prompt shipping and, most of all, the very experience of finding a new, intriguing niche fragrance and being able to try it practically right away, in a form that's much more than a mere sample. I'm looking forward to next month's discovery and so on!My ratingsFreshAdventurousHanging OutSpringRefined20
