With a population that once thrived throughout the waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, it is estimated that only 300 to 350 North Atlantic right whales currently remain in the wild due to centuries of hunting, pollution, fatal collisions with boats, and getting tangled in fishing gear. While the right whale has the ability to travel over 1,000 miles, their sole remaining habitat is centered around the coast of the Eastern United States and Northern Canada.
