Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21 Perfume Is The Perfect Marriage Of Vanilla and Coconut
I’m very seasonal when it comes to my fragrance choices. Fall and winter call for boozy vanillas, warm, spicy sandalwoods, and all the cocoa and coffee perfumes I can get my hands on. Come spring, I’m reaching for the fruity florals in my collection that boast just enough sweetness where they don’t veer into Victoria’s Secret body spray territory, but still offer that juicy, fruity, delectable aroma that I just can’t get enough of. But once summer rolls around all I want to smell like is a beach vacation and all of its fixings: sunscreen (in the best way of course), tropical fruits like coconut, heady white florals, and of course sweet vanilla. And luckily, I’ve found a fragrance that embodies everything I’m looking for in a summertime scent: Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21. Read on to learn more about this quintessential summertime scent and why it could be the next addition to your fragrance wardrobe.
THE SCENT-SPIRATION BEHIND Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21
If you’re familiar with top-selling makeup and skincare brand Huda Beauty, then you likely have heard of Kayali. Kayali is the fragrance brand under the Huda Beauty mega-brand founded by beauty entrepreneur and sister to Huda Kattan, Mona Kattan. Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21 from their five-star lineup (seriously everything smells so freakin’ good), was brought to life through Mona’s obsession with sensual vanilla and creamy coconut. She wanted the scent to transport your senses to a balmy, sunny island—and she did just that. Fun fact: the “21” imprinted on the bottle speaks to the number of iterations this scent went through before it was given Mona’s final stamp of approval— so you know it’s gonna be good with all of that extra TLC put into it.
WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE
Inside the reflective pink bottle—that’s just as display-worthy as it smells—lives Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21, a fragrance that instantly sends your senses to a tropical island with Pina Coladas in hand and a sun-drenched ocean view. It’s pure happiness in the lens of sunshine and care-free vibes. The fragrance delivers on a dream vacation as it smells sweet, solar, fruity, and floral all at the same time. I also love how well it wears on the skin. Plus, I found it gets sweeter and sexier as it sits, which is something I personally enjoy as some perfumes with these notes can turn sharper, and lean more fresh and floral as they wear.
KEY NOTES
This destination-inspired scent comes to life with notes of ripe pear blossom, creamy, milky coconut, and sweet yet slightly boozy vanilla. There’s also an infusion of heady, white florals including jasmine sambac, gardenia petals, and tuberose, that I am head over heels for all year ‘round, but I just can’t get enough of them in this perfume. At the base of Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21 are sandalwood, patchouli, and musk for a subtly earthy accord that gives it that comforting sensation we love about warm-weather perfumes. There is a slight sunscreen scent to this one but it doesn’t last as long as the vanilla and coconut notes do.
OUR FINAL THOUGHTS
Basically, if you’re a fan of coconut and vanilla perfumes, you need this. It’s the perfect combination of all of my favorite notes mixed into one aroma. If you want to do some personalizing, the brand is very into fragrance layering (as am I). To bring out more warmth and sweetness, we recommend pairing it with a pure vanilla like Kayali Vanilla 28 Eau de Parfum or pair with the brand’s Kayali Sweet Diamond 25 Eau de Parfum, if you want to add a touch of spice to the aroma as this one boasts notes of pink pepper and saffron. Whether you wear it alone or want to mix it, this scent screams summer in a bottle—and I simply cannot get enough.
