Do you have any tips & tricks for building a cologne collection?
Absolutely, buy what you like and not what’s popular. Try before you buy. Sample everything, and you’ll know if a scent is right for you.
What are your top 3 colognes in your collection & why?
1. Layton by Parfums de Marly – This was my wedding scent.
2. Prada Luna Rossa Sport – It reminds me of Hawaii 2015.
3. Aventus by Creed – It’s a compliment receiver.
What are the top 4 trends you’re noticing with male fragrances in 2024?
1. A masculine take on vanilla and sweet gourmand scents.
2. Unique visuals to challenge the notion that “all men’s fragrances smell the same.”
3. Men increasingly wearing women’s and unisex fragrances, such as Baccarat and Delina by PDM.
4. A younger audience preferring niche and luxurious scents like PDM, Creed, and Tom Ford, moving away from mainstream options.
What scents are in your Men’s Edit and why?
Layton by Parfums de Marly – For its longevity and projection. It’s my favorite men’s fragrance.
Tips & Tricks to help guys pick a scent for different occasions?
Wear what you like, regardless of the weather. You create the mood with your fragrance. Here are my picks:
– Office Scent: Glossier You by Glossier, Unisex;
– Date Night Scent: Layton By Parfums de Marly;
– Workout Scent: Prada Luna Rossa Sport by Prada;
– Lazy Day Scent: F*ck Mondays by Confessions of a Rebel.
Can you take us through your grooming routine?
Sure, for my beard, I use a straight razor/blade for a sharp edge and follow with an acne-prone face wash for a deep clean. I have a 5-step skincare routine. For my eyebrows, I keep it simple with a straight razor, which gets me more compliments than ever since I quit waxing and tweezing.
Keep facial hair clean, exfoliate once a week, moisturize daily, use sunscreen multiple times a day, apply 10 sprays of perfume (it’s not too much), apply lotion before fragrance to prolong it, and shower regularly!
What scent families, notes, and trends do you hope to see men test more of in the future?
Gourmands, sweets, and vanilla. Masculine gourmands are so interesting, and I hope to see more men experimenting with them this year!
